German Proficiency Examinations / Tests

1. GOETHE Are you considering learning German, or are you already proficient and looking for a certification to prove your skills? Look no further than the GOETHE examination – one of the most widely recognized certifications for German language proficiency worldwide. But what exactly is it? In this blog post, we'll cover everything you need to know about the GOETHE examination so that you can confidently prepare, pass with flying colors, and demonstrate your mastery of the German language! The Goethe-Institut is a German examined body which offer various language courses and examinations, the most popular of which is the Goethe-Zertifikat. The Goethe-Zertifikat is an internationally recognized certificate which proves your level of German. It is recognised by employers, universities and colleges worldwide as evidence of your achievement in learning German. The examination has six different levels, depending on how much German you know: A1, A2, B1 , B2, C1 or C2. If you want to take the examination, you first have to register with the Goethe-Institut. You can do this either online or at one of their many centres across the world. If you are interested in taking the A1 or A2 level examination, you will need to complete four papers: Reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and oral expression. The B1 level examination consists of three papers: Reading comprehension, listening comprehension and oral expression. You will be given a date for your examination when you register. The examinations are held several times a year at all of the Goethe-Institut's locations. You will be notified of your results within two weeks after taking the test.


2. TestDaF Exam TestDaF and DSH certificates are recognized by all German universities and institutions of higher education. For courses taught in English, students are not required to take these exams. For the majority of degree programs in Germany, you need to have adequate knowledge of German. TestDaF stands for Test Deutsch ALS Fremdsprache, i.e., Test of German as a Foreign Language. It provides evidence of your German proficiency to research institutes and employers.
